I haven't talked about a base for this fixture yet. I happened to have a nice piece of old deck plate in my scrap box that made a great base. I drilled and tapped holes in it so there were no nuts protruding from the bottom. I'll leave it to you to decide what you want to use for a base, I'm sure you could just mount the fixture directly to your workbench. I had to include a picture of this. It's probably the last time I'll ever use my tapping block. I used the old tool to make a new tool and now my old tapping block is sitting in my tool chest collecting dust.
